It might require an electrical filter, isolator, or Faraday cage but I'm not sure how to approach that. I'm not much of an electronics guy and I'm baffled about what to do so I'm looking for ideas about how to approach this problem. BTW: The DewBuster is attached to the same power supply as the main USB hub on the lower mount, the FocusBoss system and the ZWO cooler. Since the DewBuster uses PWM to control power to the heater strips, my feeling is that the problem might be caused either by ripple induced on the power line or EMI. Everything looks normal-even after the camera disconnects. The FLI camera has it's own isolated power supply and I don't see any possibility of ground loops between the camera and the dew-control system (which is mounted with Velcro.) I went through the device manager to confirm that there are no USB port conflicts. I learned that turning off the dew-controller reliably eliminates the problem. In about five minutes, it just disconnects. The camera does not have to be taking an image in order to disconnect.

In one case, I was able to simply cycle power to the camera to get everything back no line but, in other cases, I had to do a full system reboot of all of the components and the computer to get everything talking to each other.

When it disconnects, it sometimes takes down the serial port to the FocusBoss system and/or the serial communication port to the Arduino. This afternoon, I tried some experiments and found that with the dew controller powered on, the camera will only stay connected for about 5 minutes. On a hunch, I uploaded a new Sketch to the Arduino to shut off the dew controller and bingo, the FLI camera stayed connected for the rest of the night.

It was pretty humid last night so I checked and found that the dew-heater had indeed switched on. When the temperature-dew point spread falls below a pre-determined threshold, the Arduino closes a relay to apply power to the DewBuster. I have a DewBuster on my system that is powered through an Arduino controller. Again it disconnected after about 5 minutes. I shut everything down, cycled the power, and brought it back on line. This was alarming because it was exactly what was happening before I returned the camera to be repaired. My ZWO ASI1600-MM camera stayed connected and working. I could not connect to it and I could not control the cooler. Last night, things started normally, but after five minutes, the FLI camera suddenly disconnected taking my FocusBoss system with it. For the first time in a long time, it mysteriously disconnected and I finally figured out why. Up until last night my repaired FLI-M16803 camera has been working flawlessly.
